As you fly 2,300 miles west of Chile towards a remote island that looks like a speck in the enormous Pacific Ocean, you can’t help but wonder how the original inhabitants got here in the first place. Easter Island or Rapa Nui, as the aboriginals named it, is probably the most isolated island in the world. Yet, the enigma surrounding this island draws in thousands of tourists from all over the world.
Across the island, the famed stone statues, Moai have stood in silence for thousands of years watching civilization unfurl. Standing before the Moai, your mind begins to wonder why, how and when these structures were built.
Beyond the intriguing Moai and the history of the island, a gorgeous golden coastline with turquoise waters awaits you. Here you can surf, swim and soak up the sun. If you want to take a break from the beach, you can explore the rolling plains and volcanoes of the island on your bike, on foot or on horseback.
The more time you spend here, the more this island grows on you. You can immerse yourself in the fascinating Rapa Nui culture, interact with the locals and get a taste of the local cuisine.
Every experience you have on the island leaves you speechless. So, as you wander around the island gazing in awe at the Moai or relax on the white sandy beach watching the sunset over the horizon, you are grateful to the original inhabitants for having sailed across the ocean to discover this little piece of paradise.

Day 03 : Explore Orongo| Ahu Akivi
We start the day with a hearty breakfast.
Today, we head to the southern part of the Rapa Nui National park to visit the ceremonial village of Orongo. Here, you are greeted by the overwhelming site of the massive volcanic crater of Rano Kao. As the Pacific waves crash against the cliffs on one side of Rano Kao, on the other side lies the intriguing Orongo village with some 50 stone houses. Orongo was home to the fascinating Birdman cult and the famed competition of Tangata Manu (man-bird) where the winner was declared king, political and spiritual leader for the year. Here, the petroglyphs vividly depict the life and times of the Birdman cult. There are also figures that represent Makemake, the supreme God of the Rapa Nui.
We then head to Ahu Akivi, the only platform where 7 Moai statues face the Pacific. According to legend, they represent the seven emissaries sent by King Hotu Matu’a to explore the island before its colonization.
